為什麼不用 predominant(主要的)? 在這例句中 predominant不是更適用嗎?

    其實這兩個字無太大差異

    如果硬要說的話 由例句來看

    predominant:

    1.佔優勢的 有勢力的

    Which country is the predominant member of alliance?

    哪個國家在聯盟中居於支配地位?

    2.極其顯著的 盛行的

    Her predominant characteristics is honesty.

    她最突出的特點是誠實

    dominant:

    1.最重要的 最突出的 佔支配地位的

    She's the dominant child in the group.

    她是這一群孩子中的孩子頭

    2.(BIOLOGY) (of an inheroted characteristic) (指遺傳特徵)

    顯性的 優勢的

    由此可知後者可指為有生物遺傳特徵的形容

    而前者並無此用法
