I read it out of curiosity, because so many questions are posed about it on here. I must admit that romance is something I only like a little of in the books I read, and there is really too much of it for my taste in the Twilight saga.
However, I did enjoy reading it, especially the first book which I found quite absorbing. The second book made me a little irritated, with Bella's moping over Edward, but it was quite good too, especially the climax in Italy. Eclipse I found a little dull, there was rather too much of Bella drooling over Edward, and I was sorry for jacob, but couldn't really see any hope for him with Bella. i think the book would have been more interesting if Bella had been more torn between the two characters.
I'm unable to enter into the enthusiasm for Edward becuse I find him a rather boring character, perfection is not interesting. And in the fourth book, when Bella becomes a vampire, that makes her rather uninteresting too, all the endearing things about her, her clumsiness etc, are gone, and she's just another flawless vampire.
The setting is interesting, because Forks is the kind of place we don't see much of in the UK. I mean, American TV shows that are shown over here mostly seem to be set in big cities, or in the midwest or the south or something, and I was rather intrigued by the rainy green town, so different from what we usually see of America!
