    I don't know who made it up, but it's one of the many variations on the quote:

    "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger"

    It originated in the joke section of Dragon Magazine put out by TSR at the time in the early 80 s. It was sent in by a woman from Charlotte NC with whom I used to game but it is has been so long I can t remember her name.
