What does "crisp-o-matic" do/mean on the Burger King "frypod"?

While eating my lunch today at Burger King I noticed a little contraption on the side of the container with my fries. The "crisp-o-matic" is labeled and looks like a half circle shape on either side of the container. An example can be found here.

WHAT DOES THIS DO! Is their a point? Is it useful or just an excuse to charge me top price for french fries (although they are delicious...)

the holes let the steam escape so the fries don't get soggy as quickly (but they cool off faster!)

I don't know exactly what it is but those Fry's are awesome!

I think your supposed to stick a fry in the hole and you twist it. If it breaks the fry is crisp!
