Barak Obama may not be a terrorist, but there is evidence of him receiving campaign funds from certain Muslim extremist organizations...funds which he claims he returned, but according to the donors, they never got the funds back.
Anyway, solving the problem of the poor. Socialism, which is where the Democrats want to take this country (arguably we're there already...but we're not at the level of most European countries). The way that works is the government taxes the "rich" in order to give it to the poor in various ways, services, what have you. It's hard to become wealthy (for most), and with exorbitant taxes associated with social welfare programs, there would be no incentive to become wealthy. It would be better to give the wealthy the *choice* to give their money to the poor. If you eliminate choice, you are restricting freedom. People do not handle oppression well and will revolt against the system, once a certain point is reached.
A better way to help the poor is this:
1. Stop illegal immigration. Minimum wage is considered a lot of money for most foreigners. Having millions of immigrants in our country is diluting the workforce, creating a surplus of workers. Free market economics dictate that having more workers means lower wages for everybody.
2. Put tariffs in place to protect US industry. With tariffs, it will be more expensive for companies to import goods and services. The more cost-effective option will then be getting goods from within the United States. With companies getting their goods from this country, that creates more jobs. With more jobs to go around, wages will rise. Coupled with labor unions, this will create a powerful economy.
Once this is established, there will be more people in the middle class and much fewer people in the lower class (poor). With an enlarged middle class, there will be an increase in funds going to private charities that help the poor. This system, driven by choice, will mean a healthier nation in the long run.
That's how we fix the problem. Forcing people to give up money through taxes will only create problems for people that are forced to pay them.
