I have read several thinga about this in light of your question, everything I have read thus far says something to this degree:
What are the symptoms of a vaginal fistula?
A vaginal fistula is painless. But a fistula lets urine or feces pass into your vagina. This is called incontinence, and it causes embarrassing soiling problems that you cannot control.
If you have a vesicovaginal fistula, you most likely have fluid leaking or flowing out of your vagina.
If you have a rectovaginal, colovaginal, or enterovaginal fistula, you most likely have foul-smelling discharge or gas coming from your vagina.
Your genital area may get infected or sore.
I mainly wanted you to see the area in which the article says vaginal fistula's are not painful, but it does say further down that "If you have a rectovaginal, colovaginal, or enterovaginal fistula, you most likely have foul-smelling discharge or gas coming from your vagina.
Your genital area may get infected or sore.". Please first and foremost do not be embarrassed about any of this, as women we are open to a plethera of things men could never understand and frankly couldn't wrap their brains around. I wish I could help so much more, but even all the treatments I have come acrossed are very wishy washy, they work for some, not for others, and occasionally they make the problem worse by tearing the colon wall and creating a colon/vaginal fistula. The most prevelant treatment is cathederization, and that chances infections. The most important question I have come acrossed doctors who would treat or diagnose you, is along with the pain after sex is there any bloody discharge. If there is they say that denotes an infection, and the fistula may be worse then prior believed.
Now about the dye, I found this on another health site, a women with a fistula also has simlar problems to you as far as the dye goes, perhaps reading what happened to her could help you explain to your doctor what it might be, or what test you would like to take, here it is:
I know that this sounds gross but if any of you out there have had this problem you know how embarrassing it can be. I was told that I had a possible between my colon and vagina. I went in for a test and my gyn inserted some blue dye into my rectum then a tampon in my vagina. I left the office and came back in 1 hour. She took out the tampon and there was no blue dye. So she said no fistula. So I went home and went to the bathroom. Well there was blue dye in my urine. So she did a test with a catherer. There was blue tint to it. So she said that it was between my colon and bladder. So I went to the Cleveland Clinic and was checked and they could not find anything. They even did a coloscopy. I might mention that I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago where my bowel was snipped, but my problem did not start until about 5 years ago.
I don't know what my next step should be. It occurs out of the blue and I have no control over it. If I am sitting up in bed and have gas it is clearly coming from both ends. You know if you have regular gas you would at least have time to walk out of the room, but with this you don't. I want to hide from the world.
Please help me and guide me as what to do next. I am totally at a loss.
Well that's what happened to her, and sometimes hearing other peoples stories help, atleast I hope it does somewhat. God I wish I could help more! The web doesn't have enough good resources!!!
Again I apologize, I had a feminine problem a few years ago in which no one could help me and I was too embarrassed to go to the doc's until I could no longer stand, I sincerely wish I could be of more help you sound like a terrific women. Best of luck, if you get a minute sometime in the future, I don't need the gorey details I'm not a weirdo, I I'd just like to know your okay and the doctors sort you out hun, it's hard feeling all alone in sickness.
My Heathen prayers and Best Wishes are with you.
