will you get better results from lifting every muscle every other day or lifting you arms and chest one day then back and abs the next and the third day you lower body?

The second option is better. If you do every muscle every other day, there is little recover time for your muscles to build up (although it's better than trying to do that every day). Also, a proper training routine targets different muscles so that you can focus on improvement in each of those areas instead of trying to cover everything at once.
