Does England still control America?

I heard that England still "owns" us (e.g. the Federal Reserve and the IRS is supposedly owned by the British and the Bank of England--so Americans are still paying taxes to England). I haven't looked into it, so I don't know much about it. Is this true? Update 2: I think this is a good example. Most Americans think that Shell is an American oil company, but it's not--it's just a subsidiary to Royal Dutch Shell (British and Dutch and is registed in London).

Update 3: I think that corporations still using "Royal" in their name is also pretty troubling because it just shows who still controls most of the capital and most of the resources!
Update 4: And I didn't know that BP (British Petroleum) is the largest oil and gas producer in the US!
