Yes it is , vanilla extract is made out of alcohol..Some people will use the excuse that its only a small amount..But either way, alcohol is haram, so yes vanilla extract is haram..

You can buy vanilla essence and flavorings from a lot of stores that dont have extract,,or alcohol in them

ditto with the alcohol reason. but you can buy the essence as stated. There are alot of things that are haram that you dont realize
