It's my grandpa's from the Navy. Is it illegal to own?

(As I understand it, it was supposed to be turned in when he was sent home and, well, he didn't turn it in.)

It is a legal weapon, if it was acquired legally then no prob, unless you live some where, where owning a hand gun is illegal.

No not at all. Just regerster it with the police dept. Depending on where you live that is. Just get a licence to have a hand gun and regerster it. Good luck and be carefull with it.
