Tips for strumming a ukulele?
I'm learning to play the uke (played piano 9 years) and liking it, but I'm confused about strumming.
I heard that you're supposed to strum down with your fingernails and up with the "meat" part of your fingers, but when I do it, the down strums have a good plucky sound to them, but the up strums sound mellow and muffled.
Is it because my fingertips are still too soft from not playing much, or am I doing it wrong?
Thanks for the help :)

Imagine you're shaking water off of your hand: That's how you're supposed to strum. That's the easiest explanation that I recieved from a teacher for understanding how to strum on an ukulele.
