問一句英文,關於misnomer的用法

有一句是這樣子的

Spontaneous weathering,

which is something of a misnomer

as the process requires quite a lengthy span of time,

is the final...

我不太清楚 misnomer as 的用法

看到這句都會誤會成

自發性的風化,

是一種名字的誤用

(被看成是)一種需要很長時間的過程

-----------------------------------------------------

但正確的解釋應該是 [我在書上看到的]

自發性的風化,

是一種名字的誤用

(實際上是)一種需要很長時間的過程

請問該用什麼法方,才能讓我不會誤解呢

    這里的 "as" 等同於 since 或 because, 是”既然,因為“的意思。

    原文可改為:

    Spontaneous weathering,

    which is something of a misnomer

    SINCE the process requires quite a lengthy span of time,

    意思是説:

    《既然》這種風化過程需要很長時間,因此不宜稱之為自發性。

    “自發性的風化”這個名詞取得不恰當,會造成誤解。

    再給你個 as 做 since, because 解的例句:

    I don't need an umbrella, as it has stopped raining.

    雨既然停了,我就不带傘了。

    因為雨停了,所以我不需要傘了。
