Wedding Favours ???!!!???

Do you only give wedding favours to the 'all day' guests ? Or do you give them out at night when the evening guests have arrived ? I was l panning on sending the bridesmaids round just after the meal before the tables are cleared away but my mum said you are supposed to give them out at night so all guests get one ? Help ?

Traditionally, there are two ways of distributing favors.

1.leave one on or near each dinner plate. Some brides will have them on the plates and the favor doubles as a place card. Other brides will stack them decoratively in the center of the table so they double as a center piece.

    2. leave them on a table near the exit door at your reception. These favors are usually picked up as guests come in, or go out. If you put them next to your guest book, and near your money-box (if you have one) then your guests will probably pick one up as they sign the book.

Don't be surprised if you have left-over favors. Many couples will take one per couple, not one each. And many people really don't *want* a favor so won't take one at all. I knew one bride who didn't do favors at the wedding. Instead, she had a couple of bride's maids taking pictures all night. She then hand wrote a thank you card to each and every guest (whether they bought a gift or not) and included a picture of that guest enjoying themselves at the wedding. Not only did it mean something, but she was able to do it AFTER the wedding when she had time, not before the wedding along with the million other things. No one seemed to notice there weren't favors at the wedding, but she did get alot of phone calls for her thoughtfulness at sending the pictures and handwritten thank you notes!

Anything with candy. There are some awesome candy molds out there (for chocolate) that you can make so easily and it's very inexpensive to buy chocolate and make them. They also have candy molds where you can make chocolate lollipops or chocolate covered pretzel sticks. When I sit down and wait for dinner at a wedding i'm usually getting pretty hungry. It's always good to incorporate candy or a small snack because some guests haven't eaten since breakfast and will be starving! Stay away from favors like personalized candles or whatever. People just throw that stuff away. Not many people I know would take home and actually keep a personalized item that had my picture or name on it.

your mom is right, everyone is supposed to get a favor. i read a wedding etiquette book recently and the part on favors says typically, you are supposed to have them sitting on the table at each place setting before the guests even come in; or, as an alternative, if you're making, say, place card holders your favor, then the guests pick them up when they walk in. but yes, everyone is supposed to get one.

usually the favors sit at the guests place at the table before the guests arrive...but you could do that then keep some in a basket for the evenign guests to take one as they leave? depends what the favor is cos many of them just get left beind and forgotton anyways.

Well, you have the same guests for the ceremony and reception!

You leave favours by each place setting at the dinner tables.

i think its ur choice, weddings i have been to had them on the table at the sit down meal, on efor each guest there at that point, but another wedding i went to didn't have a sit down meal so at the buffet bit, they were scattered on the tables where people sat down to eat their buffet food

    hope this helped
