you shouldnt need to call them to reset your password... whenever my husbands expires he just resets it by answering the questions and it does it on the computer... you can try it that way -
this is what i found online at ako
To reset your AKO password go to https:// www.us.army.mil and click ‘Reset Password’ located in the middle of the page under where it reads “HELP”. A new window will open prompting you to enter your AKO Username, and then select an option for assistance. After you select your option you will be able to reset your password by logging into AKO with your CAC, following the directions contained in the email sent to your registration email, be prompted to answer the security questions you configured, or enter in your expired password. Depending on the status of your account, you may not see all those options.
If you are Active Army, Army Reserve, National Guard, or a DA Civilian you are required to change your password using your CAC (Common Access Card). If your password expires, and you do not change your password while in a CAC session in AKO, your password will only be valid for 7 days. If you do not have one of the accounts listed above, then you can reset you password for 150 days without the use of a CAC.
You can only reset your password 5 times without your CAC. After resetting the password the 5th time, you will need to reset your password with your CAC or contact the AKO helpdesk by phone or Live Chat Assistance to reset your password and your reset password counter. It is not necessary to log in every 7 days to reset your password. You can wait an indefinite amount of time; you will simply be required to change your password again if more than 7 days have passed.
In order to set a password that will be valid for 150 days, your CAC must be registered with AKO. Log into AKO with your CAC. Make sure that the greeting in the top left says, "Welcome, Your Name (CAC Session)" and click on the ‘My Account’ link. From there, click on the ‘Change Password’ button and follow the guidelines to set a new password. This password will be valid for 150 days.
If you do not have access to a computer with CAC reader and your registered email address has changed since the time your account was established so you will not receive an email. The AKO Help Desk can update your account with your current email address. Please email us at email@example.com and provide us with your full name including middle, last four of your SSN, PEBD/Service Computation Date, MOS, Rank/Pgrade, and a note that you need assistance with a new password. If you are a sponsored account holder please call the helpdesk or use the Live Chat Assistance, as we are unable to assist guest accounts with password issues via email.
