yes! I made one and it was super easy and alot cheaper. There are probably easier ways to put it together, but this is what I did. I bought a piece of pegboard from home depot with the dimensions of what I wanted my display board to be. I chose 3 by 4 (3 tiles across and 4 tiles high). I then picked out some molding and had that cut at 45 degree angles so it could fit on the board like a frame. I suggest buying the pegboard a little bigger than 3 by 4 because if you dont, then you have to wood glue the molding on and it is kind of difficult. Im not sure what tiles you want to have on your board, but I have 4 corkboards, 2 peg boards, 4 fabric covered corkboards, and 2 dry earse boards. I bought those cork tiles that were 12" by 12" so it would be easy to fit on the board. I think I bought 2 packs. I painted 2 of them, left 2 regular, and then put fabric over the other 2. I just stapled the fabric to the corkboard. The 2 dry erase boards were somewhat expensive, but you dont have to have them. I went and bought a medium dry erase board and took it to home depot when they cut my pegboard and had them cut 2 pieces out that were 12"by 12". The pegboard I used was leftover from what they cut, I also had them cut those down into tiles. Once you get the fabric and paint and tiles the way you want them on the pegboard, I used mounting squares to put them up, that way I can take them off if I want to change the colors of my room or the fabric. Hanging it was somewhat difficult. I wasn't really sure how to hang something like this because the one on pbteen has like hooks or something and you put it together in pieces. I bought one pack of screws that were like "big dog" brand or something. Each screw holds like 75 pounds so I knew it would hold the board. When you go to put your tiles on the pegboard, only do the bottom three and then hang your board. I screwed in the screws through the holes in the pegboard and then placed the tiles on top so they wouldnt be seen. I used three, one on the side, one in the middle, and another on the other side. It holds up great. Im not sure how big you want your design display board to be, but this project should only cost you like $50-$75. I think mine cost a bit more because I screwed up a couple times. Also, depending on the molding you get, like if its 2" or 2 1/2" then that determines how much more pegboard should be, like 3' 5", the 5" is for 2 1/2" for the molding on the sides. Another thing, you will need to cut the molding at a 45 degree angle to make them fit like a frame, and home depot or lowes is not allowed to do this apparently, so just use a little mitre box saw to cut at an angle. Hope this wasn't too long........haha enjoy your project!
