OK - McCain hated bush's tax cuts because he said they were bad for the economy, now he is in favor of them

All of the tax cuts are still in effect, and in fact he has voted for every passed budget by the congress since 2002 - how is the economy doing? If this isn't the great economy he was forseeing when he flip flopped, then why does he keep voting for the budgets?

McCain has said that he will make the Bush tax cuts permanent. We've seen how that's worked for us so far.

Obama plans to do away with the tax cuts for those making more than $250,000. He would do away with Social Security caps. That means that the rich would pay Social Security taxes all year long just like the rest of us. He would give families making less than $75,000 annually a $1,000 tax break. He would not tax seniors on social security making less than $50,000 a year.

So why do people on this site keep saying that Obama would raise taxes? I suppose they get this from the right-wing emails they find on their computers. No, come to think of it, I've actually heard John McCain say that Obama would raise taxes. But who was he talking to when he said that? Must have been a bunch of rich people at one of his fund raisers. Meanwhile, these poor deluded people are playing right into the pockets of the rich people who currently rule this nation.

Obama has given us an opportunity to take back our country. I find it so sad that many do not see this opportunity for what it is.

Remember he himself said he doesn't know much about economics. Unfortunately if the budgets don't pass the Iraq and Afghan wars will end real quick. However for McCain it's an appeal to a certain voting segment of the population that wants everything but don't want to pay for anything. He's also going after the conservatives even though he probably wouldn't know what end of the Bible to open. In other words he'll do anything to get elected. However he needs to work on his memory or get the lie straight. He voted for insurance coverage of Viagra but couldn't remember voting against contraceptives for women. When a reporter bought that up I don't think he squirmed that much as a POW.

Furthermore It's a proven fact the tax cuts and trickle down economics don't work. But that b.s. is tried and true. Reagan Bush and Bush got elected on that and fear. After all If responsible people and corporations did what they were supposed to do we wouldn't need laws.

Also am I the only one that knows we a have a deficit of over $10 TRILLION?

You know I wish people like you would know what they want. First you blame Bush for staying the course and never admitting his mistakes or changing his views then when someone does based on the economical changes you call him a flip flop.

It would be about time you all realize that no president will ever get it right the first time and all the time.

The economy changed. During hard economic times, reducing taxes stimulates it. When it is going well, tax increases slow it down so as not to go into an inflation position.

Have you noticed a great change in the economy over the past year?

    You have?

Could that not be a reason to change your mind about your financial choices? How about for the nation?

Of course you can see that.

  • McCain doesn't know anything about the economy. He has openly admitted that he relies on his advisers for economic information and advice. But on the other hand, Obama has nothing to offer to improve the economy either.

YUP - two possible reasons for this: (1) he forgot his first position on the tax cuts....[that old age thing again] or (2) he is just proving what a Bush Clone he truly is....

Wow, that is getting really precise and detailed. There is no way McCain-ites can follow that. I guess they will simply say that you are drinking cool aid and that Obama is a socialist.
