Everyone needs a best friend in her lifetime. She needs somebody that she can trust and go to with her problems. A best friend should be there for you all the time, no matter what the situation may be. In my case, I have known my best friend for my entire life. My best friend happens to be my younger sister, Brittany. She is only thirteen months younger than I am, so we are very close. Having Brittany as my best friend has made me into the person I am today. She has taught me how to trust people, how to help me with my problems, and how to open up as an individual.

I have always had a hard time learning how to trust people. The one person I found that I could trust with everything was my sister Brittany. I could always go to her and let her know if I had done something wrong. She would assure me that she would not tell anyone if I didn’t want her to. I knew all my secrets would be safe with her and that nobody would find out unless I told them. This was very important to me because I haven’t had very good luck in finding people whom I can trust. Brittany has never told anyone a secret that I told her. Knowing that I could trust my sister with anything helped make our relationship stronger.

Problem solving was another thing that Brittany could help me with. Whenever I had a problem that I couldn’t quite work out myself, I went to her. Whether it had to do with boys, school work, sports, or even just things running through my mind, she always solved my problems. It’s like she knew all the answers for all my questions. She is a wonderful person to go to if you need advice or some kind of guidance in life. If it weren’t for her, I would have probably made some pretty bad decisions during my high school years. For instance, I was introduced to some illegal drugs and was going to try them just because everyone else was doing it. I told Brittany what I was going to do that weekend, and she was able to explain to me that I did not need to do drugs to fit it.

Up until about two years ago, I was always a shy individual. I hardly ever spoke up or let myself be recognized. This is where my sister came and let me out of my shell.

She would act silly and sometimes really clumsy in front of people. She made me go up to random people and just strike up a conversation with them.

Sometimes that was hard and a little embarrassing, but in the end it ended up helping me. She showed me how to be more outgoing and to voice my opinion when it was necessary.

When I become comfortable around a group of people, I usually tend to talk a lot more. I start up conversations and make many jokes. I like to see people have a good time, and when others are laughing, I usually am too.

As a result of this, I became more social in school and seem to have a more enjoyable time at my job.

Being a more outgoing person helped me to feel better about myself and more confident when I was around other people. It allowed me to open up and get to know a lot of people I had once overlooked as potential friends.

Brittany and I do everything together. We went to all the high school football games, ran track, and went to the movies together. We had a dance class with each other and the teacher wanted to split us up in case of any fighting that may have occurred.

    2008-07-15 20:01:18 補充:

That wasn’t a problem for us. Brittany and I even worked at Applebee’s together for a while. Most people couldn’t believe how well we got along, considering we were sisters. We even started going to church together and went on retreats. If you saw one of us, usually the other would be right behind.

During my sister’s junior year in high school, she decided she wanted to graduate early and go to college with me. We both planned on attend Northern Arizona University in the fall of 2004.

    2008-07-15 20:01:40 補充:

She ended up graduating with me and we both got into NAU. Then U of A offered her a full ride scholarship and she took it. We were no longer going to be together.

    2008-07-15 20:01:51 補充:

A part of me was rather disappointed that she wasn’t going to be with me anymore, but I was also happy for her because I knew she would be happy. We are four hours away from each other today.

    2008-07-15 20:02:00 補充:

Even though we talk every day, we are both making new friends and changing our lives one day at a time. I know that I can call her anytime and she will be there for me.

    2008-07-15 20:02:12 補充:

To this day, Brittany is my best friend in the entire world. She is always there for me no matter what the reason may be. If it weren’t for Brittany, I don’t even know where I would be today. It is important that everyone has someone who they can trust and count on in life.

    2008-07-15 20:02:19 補充:

Brittany is my best friend who has molded me into the person I am today.
