From Tekniamou, "well, since the bible condones slavery, spousal abuse, and submission of women to the men, I WOULDNT TAKE ANYTHING IN THE BIBLE TOO SERIOUSLY. most of it is parables, and sometimes it is literal and sometimes it is not. the slaves were freed, so the BIBLE IS FULL OF ****." Okay, but if you read the Bible carefully, it says that you can't just go up to someone and call them your slave. And you have to let them go after seven years of service. And your spouse abuse isn't real abuse. It's used only if the women has sinned, or usually, cheated. It's a better alternative than death. And do you know who held the slaves in the south. I'd let you guess, but you're too stupid to know that it was the DEMOCRATS. Look it up in any history text you want. The DEMOCRATS were the slave holders. And who was holding the Bible instead of slaves. THE NORTHERNER REPUBLICANS. And the guy that asked this question. You quoted it wrong. It's "Thou shallt love they neighbor as thyself." And that has no application to reasoning on whether or not homosexuality is right or not. Yes it means to love everyone, but in a brother/sister kind of way. Not in a husband/wife kind of way. And it does happen to say that God hates homosexuality. Not the homosexuals, the sin homosexuality. And, I have a quote from 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. "9 Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, OR PRACTICE HOMOSEXUALITY, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, OR ARE ABUSIVE, or cheat people-none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God." New Living Translation. The first capitalized part covers gays AND lesbians. The second capitalized shows that the New Testament says abuse is wrong. The Old Testament doesn't exactly say it's right though. Somebody disprove me.
