State and status are terms for existing circumstances or surroundings and sometimes they mean the same and can be use interchangeably. However, even with the same meaning, the structure of the sentence sometimes varies with the two words. For example: He is in a poor state of health vs. He is in poor health status. Both mean the same.

Both state and status mean the same in the following sentences.

    身體狀態:

He is in poor health status.

    階級; 身分:

Both state and status can be used in the following sentences, but status is more commonly used.

The project status is green now.

The status of the negotiations has come to a halt.
