Unfortunately, the phone is most likely a goner. Water damage is one of the things that wireless carriers don't cover as far as protection goes. You're probably going to have to purchase a new one. Before I go further - was the $200 the contract price, or the replacement price? Because if it was the contract price, that is a discounted rate given to new customers with the understanding that the carrier will recoup the subsidized loss on the phone over time with your contract. I know it sounds confusing, but wireless carriers take a loss on the phones they sell whent they activate a new phone, knowing that over time, your $50/month (or whatever it is) will help them make their money back. (Wirelesss is one of the few industries that actually goes so far upside down when they activate a new line of service.....)So the $100 phone you bought can actually be worth $400 or more, depending on the make/model of the phone. If the $200 is the replacement price, at least you know what you're getting in to. Does your wireless carrier offer used phones? Sometimes people upgrade phones and give the old ones back to the carrier. They will often times either give you a used phone, or will sell you one for $50, which can help your wallet. Just something to consider...it can't hurt to ask! **** Edit: you can purchase a phone on eBay, but the store may not be able to program it (even it it's unlocked), and it may not work as well for you. But what they'd do is basically an equipment swap, and the balance of your contract would be carried out on the new phone.
