Does an acknowledgement of parentage count as a birth cirtificate?
I need my birth certificate for registration in a competition but i don't have any clue where it is. i do, however, have a document that says "Government of The District of Columbia Department of Human Services Acknowledgment of Parentage." it has all the stuff i think a birth certificate would have, (name, parents names, date of birth signatures, notorization, birth certificate number) but it isn't the actual birth certificate. can someone help. i need to know for sure because the competition is far away, there's no way to contact them about it and i dont want to get turned away for something like this.

I had to order mine last year. This website got it to me in 4 days for a reasonable fee. i don't know if what you have will work but I'm thinking you need it anyway. i couldn't even renew my DL without it in Tennessee.
Hope this is helpful.

If a notary will seal this document, it could function as legal testament of birth.
Depending on state of birth, certificate can be issue free of charge if either parent is a veteran.
