Euro 2008 Final almost matched Stanley Cup Final Game TV ratings - Is soccer's rise in the US unstoppable?

The Euro final got a 3.1 rating, WC 2006 final got an 7.0 rating.

This year's Stanley cup averaged a 3.2 rating and the final game got a 4.0......barely above the Euro.

This is ratings for the World Series over the last 20 or so years. You can see a consistent drop in viewership. WC 2006 almost matched game 1 of the 2006 World Series.

I think the WC final 2010 will get a 8.5-9.5 rating, and by 2014 the rating will be in the mid teens. How do you see the rise in popularity of soccer?

sturdy! it truly is the suited skill matchup for the NHL. you have Detroit, a traditionally super team with considered one of if no longer the suited checklist interior the NHL this 300 and sixty 5 days (i havnt checked) and the Pens with Crosby. I think American sports are getting boring to some here,so they are looking for something fresh. Football is fresh to them beacuse they are not used to it,so hopefully this will be good for the league [or lack thereof] here and for the football fans.Maybe David Beckham will get of his royal throne and actually start playing.
