You definitely raise a valid point. Problem is how would the insurance companies effect the price of those countries. The cost of the medical care would go up if insurance companies started doing this. For example: a simple knee brace that's "slightly" above the grade of an ace bandage costs $800 dollars if ordered by an insurance company or Medicare. If you ask to buy it for yourself, you can buy it for about 5 bucks. This kind of thing is rampant throughout the medical industry and is the single largest determining factor of costs. It's estimated that problems of this nature cost companies billions and some of the larger estimates go into the trillions. It's a corrupt system. When someone not involved in a transaction is forced to pay for something, it is in the sellers (and buyers to an extent) best interest to lie about the price.
