help! balloons?

Why does a rubber balloon filled with air remain inflated for a longer period of time than one filled with helium?

    Balloons are actually made of a plastic polymer. That means its has many tiny holes in the latex.

    Helium gas is one of the smallest particles out there, and it is small enough to escape between the latex particles.

    "Air" is made of several gasses, mostly Nitrogen gas, as well as Oxygen gas. Both of these particles are much larger than helium, and its harder for them to 'leak' out of the balloon for that reason.

    The atmosphere is mostly nitrogen, with some oxygen and a little of other stuff. If you blow up a balloon by breathing into it, it'd have a bunch of carbon dioxide in it, too. Helium is second on the periodic table, because it is the second-lightest element by mass (only hydrogen is lighter). Carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen are 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively.

    Because helium molecules are smaller than regular air and seep their way out of the balloon.

    Balloons that are UNinflated tend to remain that way even LONGER than balloons that are inflated... no matter WHATS in them.

    I don't clearly know the details, but it has to do with density and pressure, and the molecules passing through the empty space in the rubber.

    because people like to cut them open and use the helium to make there voice sound funny lol air dosent do that to people :)
