Not at all. However, Cantonese songs pretty much means "from Hong Kong", while Mandarin songs can be from mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Hong Kong is more up to date in the music scene, while mainland Chinese songs are still largely traditional. However, many Hong Kong singers have songs in both Mandarin and Cantonese, sometimes two versions of the same song. I generally like the Mandarin versions more, because I can actually understand them and I am used to the sound of Mandarin. I can imagine that someone accustomed to speaking Cantonese would prefer Cantonese songs more. So I think it comes down to a matter of personal preference.
