Yes it is a mental/emotional health issue.
Teresa put it most succinctly. "To belittle is to be-little." I can do more than expound on that.
Some Humans cut off the heads of others to make themselves seem taller.
This is not generally the behaviour of any 10 year old. It is the behaviour of an ill-mannered, poorly behaved, socially unaware, and emotionally immature brat. Brats can be of any age. Bratts can dish it out, but they cannot take it.
Some societies are "Brattocracies" supported by Bratt mentallity. We are living in a Bratts world!
" I want it now!" "I want it my way!" "I want yours!" "If I do not get it my way, how I say, when I say, or if I should change my request no matter how many times; I will throw a tantrum and hurt someone!" "Give me your natural resources or I will bomb you into the stone age!"
Critiques, opinions, and perspectives do not have to be intentionally abusive. By the same token, while there are some that are competitive in nature and one up-manship is the intent, all critiques, opinions, and perspectives, should not be taken as abusive or mean-spirited.
You are correct in your assessment. I have found the questions and answers to be an education in the social and emotional behaviour of my fellow Humans, a learning experience.
Regardless of the banner, lable or symbology which one attaches oneself, ultimately ones behaviour is truly ones religion. After all we are actually defined by our investment of time, resources, energy and effort.
Much of that which I have seen is proof that we share that which we have in abundance. Those who have joy, Love, and caring in abundance share those things to make room for more of those things in various forms. Those who have misery, mean-spiritedness, and hate in abundance will share those things, to make room for more of those things. As we all know misery Loves company!
