Isn't belittling someones beliefs more of a mental health issue and not so much a religious issue?

Numerous times a day I see questions such as: "Atheists why do you belittle theist?" or "Why do Christians pick on atheists?" and so on. Since it seems to be equal numbers of bad apples on both sides isn't it fair to say that some people regardless of faith, belief ect or lack there of... show more Numerous times a day I see questions such as:
"Atheists why do you belittle theist?" or
"Why do Christians pick on atheists?" and so on.

Since it seems to be equal numbers of bad apples on both sides isn't it fair to say that some people regardless of faith, belief ect or lack there of simple are suffering a mental condition in which they are stuck in the mindset of a 10 year old?
I am just wondering as this is how I see it and I was wondering if others could relate or am I totally wrong?

belittle- to cause (a person or thing) to seem little or less.
I am sure one could ask for proof without belittling the other person.
