No, RAM is random access memory, which basically deals with how fast your computer runs. If you want more disk space you should by some hard drive memory 20gb or whatever you need. A good amount of RAM to have is between 1gb-2gb.

It will not increase your disk space but will most likely increase system performance. The more RAM you have, the less Virtual memory your system will use which causes a direct increase in speed.

Now, if you have your virtual memory set to "System Managed Size" then it is possible you may notice an increase in usable disk space only because Windows is not having to allot as much disk space to virtual memory due to the extra real memory... but if your hard drive was so full that the extra space allotted by this configuration actually made a difference to you, then you are way overdue for a hard drive upgrade.

    Someone said wrong :)

The previous posters are correct, RAM and disk space are two completely different things.

Maybe the person you were talking to meant to say if you've got more RAM, the system doesn't have to use the hard disk as frequently to store temporary data- that much is true.

Disc space=Hard drive disk space which means if you get low on you should either delete files on your laptop or buy another one. Memory=RAM=Random Access Memory This can be changed by simply buying new ones and replacing them(if you know how of course).Only on a desktop not on a laptop.Very few laptops have changeable RAM bars and support a limited amount of Memory. The older the laptop the less memory supported. Hope it helped!

No, RAM is temporary memory addresses for program usage during operation and anything in memory is lost when the system is shut down or restarted. More RAM means you can run larger programs more smoothly. If you want more disk space you have to either replace your hard drive to a larger capacity one or add another hard drive for additional storage.

No, you need to upgrade your harddisk to increase your computer's disk space. RAM is only virtual memory which "technically" will speed up the computer a bit.

    Disk space? no....

RAM and the Hard Drive are two different things.

RAM is your 'memory' Windows stores temporary stuff on there that it requires for operation.

Your Hard Drive is whats stores all your data like pictures or games.

RAM is Random Access Memory..it is just temporary memory & it wont add any disk space, for that u will require a better HDD

  • RAM makes your computer faster.

For more disk space, buy another hard drive.

no, RAM just increases the amount of freedom for your computers applications and programs, you need to buy another hard drive, you can keep the one your still using but buy either an internal or external hard drive and use it to keep all your films, music images and other important files on, a 20gb-80gb will do fine, it should save a load of space on your older hard drive
