Not working & need to neuter a 1yr old Dane-where can I get it done as inexpensively as possible? NC San Diego

I have just adopted an acquaintances Great Dane and I need to get him neutered ASAP. She (the friend) has agreed to pay for all of the food, flea treatments and booster shots in order to get him in good shape for me to adopt and take care of him for 4 months, then I would take over the bills. (Her EX had not been treating the dog well in her absence and was one day from having to give this gorgeous sweetheart of an animal to the shelter - Dane's especially do not do well in shelters)

I have had him for three days now and while he and I are doing wonderfully, he's got a few aggression issues and keeps trying to mount everyone in the house (a BIG deal when your dog is the size of a small pony)

Since he is likely not able to reproduce, I had planned on waiting to get him neutered until I had a job - but with these other issues I want to get it done ASAP. Can anyone guide me to an inexpensive place in San Diego's North County?

I left a message at a local shelter but haven't heard back.

Keep calling the rescue or SPCA, talk to the dogs regular Vet and tell the problem, if it's a descent Vet he will work with you for the welfare of the dog, mine would. I hope it works out for you they are great dogs, I don't think he's being aggressive, just horny but at their size I can see that would be a frightening experience, I'm so glad you didn't let her go to a shelter, and if something happens that you can't keep him I'm sure there are dane rescues around you might have to travel a few miles but I think there has to be one

Animal shelter. The local ones here do it for like $35. I would call a couple in the area.

Check out friendsofanimals.com they have a program where they provide a voucher for a discount procedure with a vet on their list.

well, ask around your town or city about the pricing for the animal YOU ADOPTED!!! If some vets know you adopted or rescued, they will give you a discount. I know a vet who does that, so ask around and see which places are reputable and yet give you a good price. look in you phone book.

I would try the animal shelter, or go to the vet, and explain your situation, maybe they will let you pay the bill bit by bit, or give you a disctount, who knows! GOOD LUCK!!!

Keep calling the shelter. Call all of them in the area.

In our area, we have something called the PAWS project. See if you have one of those.

If you have a P.A.W.S around your area, they usually do it fairly cheap.
