What does faith mean?
It means God, in his perfection, had prophets write a book that states the
Earth is around 6000 years old, which is more then 100x off the spot. that is over 1000% wrong, and in that "perfection" he had it written wrong to test our faith, then commands that we not lie. However, did he not lie when he said he created the Earth at that time. Then also lied when he said he created the Earth first, then created night and day? When the Sun is proven to have formed before the Earth? So why would a God lie, and then tell us not to lie?

I think faith is the decision to believe, and the effort required to keep believing, something that doesn't appear to be true.
In fact something that appears to be untrue.

So your real question should be 'did God create the earth in 7 literal days?'
The Bible doesn't say that. You need to remember that you are reading a translation. The original Hebrew word which is translated to 'day', actually means a period of time. It is used again at Genesis 2:4, where it say's 'in the day' that God made the earth and heaven. We are in fact still in the seventh day.
Also, when the Bible say's that it came to be evening and then morning, another day. This means that at the beginning of a creation 'period of time' or 'day', whatever was going on wouldn't have been so clear to the angels. However, as time went on, things would have become clearer as to what God was doing.
No doubt you'll have more questions about the creation part of Genesis, and any Jehovah's Witness would be able to show you an explanation.
Because being under his anger is for a moment,
Being under his goodwill is for a lifetime.
In the evening weeping may take up lodging, but in the morning there is a joyful cry.Source(s): Attending a free Bible study with the Jehovah's Witnesses Exodus 6:3 (King James Version) And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. http://www.watchtower.org/

SCIENCE AND RELIGION
(Science & Faith)
The Catholic Church has always taught that "no real disagreement can exist between the theologian and the scientist provided each keeps within his own limits. . . . If nevertheless there is a disagreement . . .
***it should be remembered that the sacred writers, or more truly ‘the Spirit of God who spoke through them, did not wish to teach men such truths (as the inner structure of visible objects) which do not help anyone to salvation’; and that, for this reason, rather than trying to provide a scientific exposition of nature***...
... they sometimes describe and treat these matters either in a somewhat figurative language or as the common manner of speech those times required, and indeed still requires nowadays in everyday life, even amongst most learned people" (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus 18).
As the Catechism puts it, "Methodical research in all branches of knowledge, provided it is carried out in a truly scientific manner and does not override moral laws, can never conflict with the faith, because the things of the world and the things the of the faith derive from the same God. The humble and persevering investigator of the secrets of nature is being led, as it were, by the hand of God in spite of himself, for it is God, the conserver of all things, who made them what they are" (CCC 159).

Faith boiled down is in reality nothing but wishful thinking. It is a belief that has no evidential basis, often a belief DESPITE evidence to the contrary. Wishful thinking is really all faith is. It is a hope, a wish a dream, a vapour, a chimaera, an ignis fatuus, a pipe dream, an hallucination born of our hopes and fears and superstitions. However, there is another meaning of Faith. Faith=Trust. This type of Faith can exist from evidence, and the best faith to have is faith in yourself. The Faith (Trust, Confidence) one has in friends and loved ones who have proven themselves in the litmus test of reality, is a good type of Faith. One cannot live without this type. The other types: belief without supporting evidence, belief CONTRARY to fact, should be expunged. One should support an idea solely by its evidential basis, its foundation in fact and reality. The less evidence to support an idea, the weaker its grip should be on ourselves. Where there is little or no supporting evidence, one should assume an agnostic stance, which is nothing but an honest admission: "I don't know". Where matters are controversial, such as the origin of the Universe, where we really have insufficient data, however hard it may be, the best stance to adopt is suspend judgment until the data is in. One then may side with what one deems the most "probable" alternative, but allowing for the possibility of error.

Hebrews 11:1, "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld."
As for the rest of your question, your "facts" are wrong so your conclusions are wrong as well. The Bible says the universe as well as the planet earth was created prior to creation of life upon it. Genesis 1:1 "In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Then the Creative Days began. They were more than 1,000 years as well. The 7th Day of God's rest will not be over until after the 1,000 year reign of Jesus Christ, when he will turn over rulership to his Father. You refer to 2 Peter 3:8 about 1,000 years is as 1 day to God. However days can be of different lengths depending on each case.
So God and His Word, the Bible does not lie. Your suppositions are wrong so all outcomes from that are wrong.

The Bible DOESN'T SAY the earth is 6000 years old! That is so-called "creationists" who have taken many passages out of context and shuffled them together to come up with an erroneous time line... Note also that others have used Ussher and Lightfoot's (the main nuts that came up with the idea of a 4004 B.C. creation back in the 16th century) methods and gotten greatly differing numbers.

Has two entirely different meanings to many.
1. Faith means blind acceptance of doctrine.
2. Faith means, acceptance of the Bible message based upon the congruity of that message.
These two forms are at odds, and can not be harmonized.

It means that the God of the Bible wasn't real and it is all an illusion to control the masses. The rulers back then figured out a way to guilt people for easy money and power.

God did not have prophets.....Men decided that they were prophets....like Warren Jeffs did, like Joseph Smith did, like Charles Manson did, like David Koresh did, like Jim Jones did.......and they created their little book and their little church and used Jesus as their deity, re-wrote and re-translated everything he said to suit their needs, when out and killed and tortured anyone who didn't follow them....
OH! and God did not lie, God can't lie, God is Consciousness, not human, only humans can lie.
