In order to use actual code inside a textare box, the tags need to be placed using the special characters for "<" and ">". Usually just doing the "<" in a special character is enough This will allow people to copy/paste your code as the code will stay inactive and appear as regular text.

Example below shows the code inside for a drop down select menu. I had to space the special character code so it would show:

    <textarea name="Dropdown_Menu" rows="15" cols="60" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">& lt ;select name="category">

    & lt ;option value="%">Please Choose Category& lt ;/option>

    & lt ;option value="Fern">Fern& lt ;/option>

    & lt ;option value="Horsetail">Horsetail& lt ;/option>

    & lt ;option value="Lichen">Lichen& lt ;/option>

    & lt ;/select></textarea>

Remove the spaces from & lt ; for correct character.
