Don't be fooled!!! I didn't see anywhere in your question anything about you wanting to be a commercial model. I do read in your question you want to be "In" commercials or a commercial.
Here'z the break down;
Commercial actors have to work just as hard as a stage actor or a film actor. There are even more types of actors but I'll stay with these three.
Of the three, commercial actors work more often and make more money then your typical stage or film actor....Don't buy that? Just visit the SAG web site and look at pay for all cat's of actors! Most actors are not "Working" actors; meaning at most people whom call themselfs an actor do not make a living from acting!
Commercial acting is a fast paced, get in and get it done way to work in the business. Make sure you have good "Improv" skills, know how to bottom line your sides (if you get a side at all for the audition), have a head shot and resume, have a life you can talk about if asked questions by the casting director (I use to cheat a bit and take a really interesting book with me into the audition. I'd plop that puppy in their eye sight, and 99% of the time I'd get to talk to the director about myself.... a strategic edge!), and get an agent!!!
In the mean time, go to as many open calls as you can and learn as you study and train.......
