The USMLE is a test starting with Step 1 that most medical school students take after their first year in medical school. Medical school students must take this test in the process of becoming a licensed doctor. It stands for US Medical Licensing Examination. There are 3 steps total, taken at different times during the medical school education. One must successfully pass all steps in order to practice medicine in the United States. Basic sciences and clinicals are covered on this exam.
