I use both, and what is said above is false, and they probably only use 1.

Pop up blocker: IE givine an estamate will let through 1 in 20 pop ups, FF would probably let through 2 in 5 leterally, it's like, dont show pop up, POP UP!! or when you leave the page it comes through.

Security: Not sure on this one, probably about the same although IE is more obvious

Speed: IE probably beets that by 5-15% depending on the ocmpute speed.

Firefox 2 is a smaller file to download and install. It has better tabbed browsing than internet explorer 7 and a larger developing community to improve upon it. Firefox also has many add-ons that community developers are adding on like a YouTube and Wikipedia search function next to the address bar As security goes, Mozilla updates security flaws quicker than Microsoft. Firefox is the better choice.

Internet Explorer uses Active X, here is what Microsoft says about it:

"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a feature...From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may be vulnerable to attack"

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa752035.a...

(Neither Firefox nor Opera have Active X)

    United States Computer Emergency Team:

"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...ActiveX (etc)...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

The general consensus is yes, Firefox offers more security, stability, and usability than Internet Explorer 7.

Another great browser is Apple Safari, the fastest internet browser, is also better than IE7

You should try both and pick the one you like!

I like firefox better because of the added features that IE doesnt have. I like how you can either RESTORE your previous session or start a new one when you close out and log back in later. The only thing I don't like is that I cant open pdf files in firefox. however, this may just be me. I havent had time to research it yet

It actually depends on the user. I've been seeing users says Firefox is better than IE7. There are also who says IE7 is a lot better than Firefox because of its strict standard -- they feel a lot safer when using it.

There are actually some features Firefox has that IE7 deosn't have and vice-versa.

Again, it depends on the users.

You're probably going to get a lot of biased answers with that question, but it realistically comes down to preference. If you prefer all the cool and fancy plug ins available to FF, then use FF. If you prefer the simple, easy to use and fully compatible IE7, then use IE7. I personally use IE7 because it's easier to clean up, compatible with every site, loads faster than FF, and is not as much of a memory "hog" as FF is. I will give FF some credit though, I like to use it on occasions, if you don't have a ton of extensions loaded then it is not as bad of a memory "hog" (and there are some really cool FF extensions out there). All in all, preference.

As a note to some remarks, it uses memory based on your extensions and allotted memory specification. If you allot more memory, then it'll use a lot of memory or even if you have a ton of extensions then it'll still the required memory. Also, IE7 initially loads faster than FF because it's "preloaded" by the Operating System, but that can be configured via a little research through Mozilla's website. FF is much easier to customize than IE7.

Hi, ANYTHING is better than Internet Explorer (any version).

I especially hate when it is foisted on you with no choice to unload it! (If you can easily and completely unload it and still have the OS work without anything becoming 'broken' then I'll retract this statement!) I don't believe in being forced to use any brand of software.

The only reason its still around is that MS can bundle it with the OS and you don't really have any choice in the matter.
