i thought he was tapping as well, but the commentators did acknowledge it, saying that he was telling the ref he was ok...which actually seems legitimate, bacause i don't think thompson could have executed the choke he was going for, with kimbo's arm stuck in between...i could be wrong though.

i agree with you that most mma fighters are not street fighters, but the fact is that kimbo actually was a street fighter. so its not like he's walking around using a fake made-up image, the guy is just portraying himself as he is. unfortunately for mma its not the most flattering image, but you can't change the guy's past or ask him to be someone he's not

Looked like tapping to me! The announcers stated he was telling the ref he was OK? I later concluded they were correct because the choke or what ever submission he was trying did not seem like it was going to work. Looking back I think he was tapping partially due to exhaustion? The only thing I can think of is he did actually say something to the ref. If he did not speak to the ref, I would have called it a tap since tapping your hand quickly on the other persons hand is not the best way to tell someone you are doing fine during a MMA fight!

Big Kimbo fan, I thought I saw the tap and had to watch it again 3 times on my DVR with my wife. we didnt see a tap.

Personally I don't like the way Kimbo acts at all the whole "Streeet Fighter" image, witch infact most MMA fighters are Martial Artists not street fighters. I watched Ultimate Ice Man on Spike last night though.

I thought he tapped, plenty of people watching at home thought he tapped. But the ref, who had the best view out of everyone, clearly saw that he didn't, which is why the fight continued.

I,m glad you brought that up I saw him tap out and I don,t watch a lot of mma but he taped out he got a brake from the ref again because the ref could not believe what he was seeing.

  • I thought I saw it too. I was confused because I told my husband " he tapped, how come the ref isn't stopping it?" but they continued on......I don't know??.

I think firstdancdk has it right.

Jared is an "idiot" if he didn't see the tap/signal/reassurance signal or whatever you want to call it!

He didn't tap. It looked like he did but he was motioning to the ref. that he was OK. It was when he was in the guilitine choke

I believe I saw him tap but it really doesn't matter if the ref didn't catch it. It happens more often than you might think.
