What would be observed when iron (II) sulphate solution is mixed with dilute sulphuric acid and a small amount of a potassium permangante solution? Write an ionic equation for the reaction involved.
Thanks!

When the pale green FeSO4 solution is mixed with colourless H2SO4 solution and purple KMnO4 solution, the solution changes to yellow (or yellowish brown)*. The ionic equation is:
MnO4-(aq) + 8H+(aq) + 5Fe2+(aq) → Mn2+(aq) + 4H2O(l) + 5Fe3+(aq)
* In the resultant solution, Mn2+(aq) is colourless (concentrated Mn2+ solution is very pale pink, and thus Mn2+ solutions are usually observed to be colourless) and Fe3+(aq) is yellow (or yellowish brown). Therefore, the resultant solution is yellow (or yellowish brown.

Is the Potassium Permanganate...灰錳氧 that's used for medicinal purposes??? The purple crystals that makes a purple solution... . So many reactants give purple; green; brown and pink.
