How is the United States of America's immigration policies different than that of other countries?

Dr. John has no clue -
Our policies are far more liberal than many of the other country's out there - we basically pander to immigrants wanting to come into our country. We don't, for instance,
do like New Zealand - measuring an immigrant's body mass index to see if they're fit enough to be admitted into the country. They don't want to burden their national health care system with anymore non-physically fit people.
Australian has age restrictions on immigrants - they don't want you if you're over 45.
We don't make immigrants take English lessons - like Norway does to their immigrants - those immigrants must take at least 30 hours of Norwegian language and are expected to speak that language.
Canada has financial regulations and education rules - you must have at least a BA degree and a rather large bank account, plus employment to be eligible to immigrate into their country.
These are just a few examples of what other countries do and expect of people immigrating into their country. We haven't even passed a nation-wide law for English to be our national language as of yet - so we're not as hard as some would depict us as. Not to mention - the illegal immigrants here even have advocacy groups trying to assist them - try that in some of the other countries... If an illegal alien has a baby in this country, it's considered an "anchor baby" - it's an American citizen, even though the parent(s) have no right to be here in this country.
Our politicians, like in New York, have even went so far as to grant illegal immigrants driver's licenses - and haven't come up with legislation dealing with the illegals, as they're more concerned with the potential votes for their party they may get from them, as opposed to what is actually good for this country.

I really don't know that answer. HOWEVER, I do know that the United States lets MORE people immigrate legally and also the use of Visa's into our Country per year than any other country on the globe.
We have plenty of legal immigrants coming into our Country. Too bad the news media does NOT report THIS FACT. Too bad the news media seems to favor and write about the ILLEGALS that come across our borders breaking our laws.

We take in more legal immigrants than anyone else in the world, and our government is pretty wussy when it comes to illegal immigrants.
