The wife of course. I mean it's even in the Bible. Genesis 2:24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh".

Parents have their life, your kids will leave you when they grow up, thus your spouse is the most important person in your life. If someone does not think so - they are not ready to be in a marriage

It should not be a contest.

I would not expect him to put me first at all times when he spent 27 years of his life by his mother's side.

When the situation merits that he sticks up for me, I would expect him to be there. But if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong and he shouldn't "choose" me over anyone else just because he's bound by a ring and a license.

Um, well his mother was there first...and will be even after the wife leaves him...so my vote would go to the mom.

    good question...

My little saying on the order of loving women.

    i use the W-O-M-B

    1. Wife
    2. Offspring (children)
    3. Mother (all)
    4. Brother (siblings)

If you want to add S--then that means everyone esle, you may love. (mistresses, friends, co-workers, etc)

why does one have to come before the other. the fact is that the man will choose who to put first if either. i personally think that both should be give the same amount of consideration since both are loved the same amount but in different ways.

    His wife comes first!!!!!!!
He's not married to his mother!!

There is no way he should let the mother dictate what happens in the marriage.

It should not be a competition. Nor should the husband be put in the position to choose.

BOTH women have a place in his life and EACH should respect that.

The wife and children (if they have any), they are apart of his family too, the mother-in-law needs to step aside.

If the wife will put the mother-in-law first, that makes it easier for the husband to think of his wife first.

It will always create conflict if you make someone "choose" between two people they love.

As long as the mil doesn't live with you, for the little while you may be inconvenienced on her behalf, it is usually worth the benefit you will all enjoy because of it.

Individuals who make a spouse choose, "me or them" will usually lose more in the long run with their selfishness than they will gain.

The wife first, then the kids (if you have any), and then the in-laws. But you should never ignore them, if you like them or not. Remember that, now.

That's a pretty stupid question. I would say the mistress comes first, followed by the wife, and then the mother.

well since the guy is married to the wife, the wife should come first. The mother-in-law needs to learn some boundaries and try to understand their position.
