Environmental Engineering-Exactly what is it ?

I've done some research, and i'm really thinking about my career even though i'm still a sophmore in highschool.

This career has just sounded so interesting, and i want to know if anyone has information on it, or is an environmental engineer, and can share with me their benefits or experience.

thank you :]

Environmental engineering is a relatively new branch of the engineering profession that has developed in response to environmental pollution. Environmental engineers work to provide safe drinking water, treat and dispose of solid waste, clean up sites contaminated by hazardous waste, and maintain air and water quality.
