Music for a nursing home? 10 points for best answer!?

I currently work at a nursing home, and they listen to the same exact cd every night (Johnny Cash). I would like to make them a cd with many different songs, but I don't know what to put on it. Any ideas?

I work with seniors in an assisted living complex. Many of them were veterans in the Second World War and enjoy listening to big band & solo artists such as: Benny Goodman, Vera Lynn, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tommy Dorsey, along with light classical music. Try and do a theme for each cd: big bands, solo artists, classical, musicals from that era Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Carusel, etc from that time. I am sure they are sick of the same cd too. Try the local library for ideas and websites.

Old people love swing/big band music. Anything from the 40's and 50's seems to delight them.

Download some Glenn Miller, Bobby Darin, Guy Lambaro, the Andrew Sisters, etc. Fun stuff!

Ask the residents what they would like to listen to. If they like Johnny Cash, let them listen to him. Some of them probably don't remember listening to him last night.
