Can I wear a semi-casual maxi dress to a garden wedding?

I have some friends who are getting married in a few weeks who are having a garden wedding (in a backyard). It's at 7:30pm. The bride is wearing a "cocktail party like dress" (description curtesy of the groom) and their invitation is pretty generic, not too formal or casual. The groom said to go w/ a spring dress that's more on the casual side (I haven't seen the bride to ask her).

I love the maxi dresses that are popular right now and feel most comfortable in those compared to a knee or tea length one.

Can I get away w/ wearing something like these dresses?

I think you can get away with it expecially the floral one just make sure to have cute heals (NOT SANDALS) and a cute CLUTCH and some cute eaarings and where make up.

EDIT: Sorry about all the damn typos LOL!

Just personally, I think the first one looks too much like a beach wrap; the second one certainly would be appropriate (except for the fact that it's maybe a little too poofy and would draw attention away from the bride). You're absolutely on the right track though, absent any specific instructions from the bride.

The length is fine. I'm not prudish, but I just think those bodices are too bare.

Something like this is better - done as the main pic shows, and it would be pretty in teal.

the dress should work fine especially if the brides dress is not really a formal wedding gown. you can dress up your dress w/ some nice dressy sandals & jewerly too. i would go w/ the plain color one. the flower print seems to busy for a wedding, even if it is just a garden wedding.

Since it's a night wedding, I think you should try for a more night-time dress. These two look a little too casual for a night wedding, even if it is a garden wedding.

I cant see the dresses b/c my work computer has blocked VS as porn! Seriously!!!

However, I'd go with something like this if you want a maxi dress. I adore the picture of Kristen Bell on the right

I think that the dress is fine. A garden wedding to me sounds like it is not to formal, and not to casual and I think that style is just that.

This is perfectly acceptable. Either of these dresses are tasteful and pretty, would be fine for a wedding party.

no its wonderful. the gown sounds exceedingly! because of the fact this is a exterior/exterior wedding ceremony that gown would be good. if it exchange into in a church it require slightly extra of a acceptable gown yet because of the placing its completely perfect to placed on
