    Earthquakes, Bible Prophecy, and You

BEFORE his death, Jesus foretold events and situations that would give evidence that this world had entered “the conclusion of the system of things.” That period, he said, would be marked by such things as pestilences, food shortages, and large-scale warfare. He also mentioned “great earthquakes” that would occur “in one place after another.” (Matthew 24:3, 7; Luke 21:10, 11) Was Jesus referring to our day?

Many say no. They assert that the number of earthquakes has not substantially increased in recent decades. In fact, the U.S. National Earthquake Information Center reports that earthquakes of 7.0 magnitude and greater remained “fairly constant” throughout the 20th century.

Note, though, that the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy does not require an increase in the number or power of earthquakes. All Jesus said was that there would be great earthquakes in one place after another. Furthermore, he stated that these events would mark the “beginning of pangs of distress.” (Matthew 24:8) Distress is measured, not by the number of earthquakes or how they rate on the Richter scale, but by the effect that they have upon people.

Earthquakes have indeed caused much distress in our day. In fact, during the 20th century, millions have been killed or left homeless by these disasters. Experts say that many of these deaths could have been prevented. “In developing countries,” reports BBC News, “building regulations frequently take second place to the demands for cheap, quickly built housing to meet the needs of rapid urbanisation.” Commenting on two recent tragedies, Ben Wisner, an expert in urban disasters, states: “It wasn’t earthquakes that killed these people. It was a combination of human error, indifference, corruption, and greed.”

Yes, sometimes the deadliest factors in an earthquake are human selfishness and negligence. Interestingly, such qualities come to the fore in another Bible prophecy concerning “the last days” of this system. During that time, the Bible states, people would be “self-centered, lovers of money,” and “callous.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, The Amplified Bible) Along with Jesus’ words regarding the conclusion of the system of things, this prophecy provides clear evidence that we are nearing the time when God will bring relief to distressed humanity from all present causes of pain and suffering—including great earthquakes.—Psalm 37:11.

Of course the US is afraid of China. A large part of our economic business is dependent upon China. And if the United States was ever in a war with a major power, China is probably the only nation that the US couldn't beat. China has way more soldiers to utilize as soldiers than the US. And since a lot of the US's electronics are produced in China, they could put a hurt on the US in that regard too if it ever came to war. Also, China, according to the news, has done a pretty good job of hacking into the US defense system. Then you have the fact of the tense relation over Taiwan. Tibet isn't the "real" worry because China has "legitimate" claim over Tibet. What could cause a world war is if China invaded Taiwan. The US would probably have an upper hand at first because the US military is a little more advanced, but it wouldn't take China long to meet or beat those advances. In the history of World Wars, the "good guys" might have won, but the real reason why they won is due to the numbers game. The Allies had more troops to send. China definitely would win the numbers game. The end of the Korean War is proof of that. China got involved and US troops got slaughtered because they were way outnumbered. I've talked to one or two veterans that fought in those battles. One described it something like this: The Chinese had five lines of soldiers, but they only had enough guns for one line of soldiers. When the guy in the first line got shot and went down, the man from the second line stepped up, grabbed the gun from the dead man on the first line and started shooting. If he got shot, the man from the third line stepped up and took his spot and so on. One line of American soldiers fighting 5 lines of soldiers. That's called being way outnumbered.

its a sign these governments need to help people build better housing and better infrastructure so the whol nation does not collapse because of one disaster

that is what it is a sign of

stop this end of time madness.. God said none of these things will mean the end.. the end will come when we least expect it

so if things are going really great in the world and there are no problems or wars or disaters you can then freak out.

I was just thinking about this. I'll give you a real answer. I do think that we are near the end, because several other prophecies have also come true. For example, Israel becoming a nation(which I'm sure you have already heard of). But that is just my opinion. None of us will know until it happens!
