"The books don't lie." --- Oscar Robertson, the only player to record a triple double season once said when asked if Wilt was the greatest ever.

Talented as Wilt is, though it failed to bring him championship rings, the true test of basketball excellence. Wilt won only two, One was against his foremost adversary, Bill Russell, the best team-oriented player ever and one with the talented laker team which featured fellow NBA HOFs Jerry West and Gail Goodrich.

Wilt will forever capture one's imagination as the best individual performer ever, his records forever standing.

Not to take away anything from Michael Jordan as he, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird are widely considered as basketball triumvirate of basketball genius, all three came with the instinct of how to make their teams win, but Wilt's freakish numbers are too great to ignore.

"Wilt was too big, too strong, too arrogant for his time." --- Wilt Chamberlain

    Hope this helps.

This is the thing Wilt played in a ear were he was easily the tallest and more powerful this ment he could dominate players at will and just get those boards and points because the league had no answering players then. yes you stae some impressive stats but re member when he had that 100 he shot 72 times and had 36 free throw attempts. in the report of the game you can read that players were actually giving him the ball fo him to get to 100 it still is mega impressive but the tallent level of the game in that era was far lower compared to the compentitivenes in the league in the past 2 and half decades to me when it comes to fgreatest players i regard poeple that had to use tallent and physical ability in face of superior tallent than those who although tallented had to face a less challenging opposition.

The greatest I say Jordan. Sir charlse, Magic, Reggie, Wade to mention but a few all point to MJ as the greatest and I do agree. he played in a time when tallent was vast and his impact on the court was just way to much. stats dont always mean a thing because look bill russell lead the celtics to 11 rings but wilt only had 2 rings bo in the end all his heroics never paid up thats why stats are deciving. you have to see the creative tallent the enginuity and the tenusity in face of a great challenge to crown the greatest ever and I think Jordan did that. but no doubt wilt is in the top 3

for some reason people say mj but for the first 5 or 6 years of his career he was just a dunker who scored alot of points then somehow he was proclaimed god now people who have never seen any of the greats play say he is the best compared to who and why because of the rings he got with Phil and the Jordanians if he only won 2 titles would he still be great. bill russell has more rings and kareem has 6 mvps but that doesn't count unless its mikes awards we are talking about

LARRY BIRD! He did not just score he had amazing passes and AMAZING shots he is 100% The best bball player in this entire world 2 come. Plus Larry was not cocky and Larry Bird went against better and more talented teams back then. MJ did not. Larry want agaisnt way beeter teams back then like when Majic was around and Dr. J and that Careem Adoul-Jabar dude.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He had a 20 year career. 6 time NBA MVP. 6 time NBA Champion. 2 time NBA Finals MVP. He is the all time leading scorer with 38,387 points. It has got to be Kareem or Wilt , hard to choose.
