It's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver, about 1971. Because of the lyrics, the song's strongly associated with the state of West Virginia. but Denver and co-writer Bill Danoff wrote the song in the waiting room of a New York hospital, and used the name "West Virginia" just because it fit the meter of the song. John Denver had never even been in West Virginia until he played a charity concert in 1985.
Other songs by him? You can find lots of places that list his hits, so I'll not bother. But of the obscure songs, how about "Wild Montana Skies"

One of the first songs I learned to play on the piano. It's "Take Me Home,Country Roads", from the early 70s (1973), written and made famous by the late John Denver, who died in a single plane crash in 1997.

Take me home By John Denver
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees,
younger than the mountains
growin' like a breeze.
Country roads, take me home,
to the place I belong.
West Virginia,
Mountain momma,
Take me home country roads
All my mem'ries, gather round her,
miner's lady, stranger to blue water.
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky,
misty taste of moonshine
teardrop in my eye.
Country roads, take me home,
to the place I belong.
West Virginia,
Mountain momma,
Take me home Country roads
I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me,
the radio reminds me of my home far away
and driving down the road I get a feeling
that I should have been home yesterday,
yesterday.
Country roads take me home,
to the place I belong.
West Virginia,
Mountain momma,
Take me home, Country roads
Country roads take me home,
to the place I belong.
West Virginia,
Mountain momma,
Take me home, Country roads
Take me home, Country roads
Take me home, Country roads

The singer is John Denver and he has lots of songs. Think my fav is Thank God I'm a country boy. Just look up his name and you will get a listing of his songs. FYI he died in a plane crash a few years ago, so sad.

HRC needs to concede now not in June. Get out Hillary. She is hurting the occasion and our democrat nominee Senator Obama probability to win interior the fall. HRC is making a fool out of herself. she can by no potential stay this one now. i chanced on her comments very offensives. ****************************************... OBAMA '08
