I chose this film because not only did it bring to us a romantic and warm love story, it also brought to us the beauty and serenity of a misty vineyard.
The audience were encompassed in the romantic atmosphere portrayed by the beautiful and dreamy scenery and the poetic presentation skills.
A love story set in this wonderful pastoral atmosphere is bound to be especially romantic and touching.
The vineyard in this film is located in the Napa Valley in northern California.
Its beauty was impeccably captured and presented in the film.
The vineyard was located in the Napa Valley. Every dawn and dusk, the valley was covered by a thin veil of mist, enhancing the dream-like sensation.
And the way the director combined fantasy and reality through his filming filled the film with an unreal sense of romance.
Paul, a recovered soldier, was leaving home to look for a job, met Victoria, a beautiful woman on her way home, during a long trip on the train.
Because Victoria was single but pregnant, she was very nervous about going home and seeing her old-fashioned father, who runs a vineyard.
So, out of the kindness of his heart, Paul pretended to be Victoria's husband, so she would not be blamed, and would then quietly leave after she has settled down.
However, things were not as easy as they thought.

Paul and Victorial had to act intimate in front of others, but Paul had to constantly remind himself that he has a family of his own, and the responsibilities that came with it, while Victoria kept herself awake through her gratitude. They were strangers to each other.

Victoria's family were doing their best to encourage their union, and Paul's departure was delayed once after another. During this time, their love for each other sprouted and grew like a plant in the warm spring wind in the beautiful pastoral surroundings.

Paul restrained himself with resolved reason and, even until the end, refused to show his feelings for Victoria. At last, he went on his way toward home.
But waiting for him at home was a wife who loved another man.

The moment Paul received his divorce papers, he was relieved and happily went on his way back to Victoria. Although it was a tough process, but eventually the lovers were able to be together in the end, and their kiss was full of sweetness and love.

While Paul returned to the vineyard as a free man, Victoria's father harbored great disappointment in Paul for being once married. He started a fight with Paul, which resulted in the fire in the vineyard.

The desolation after the fire was indescribable. But when Paul pulled the iconic vine roots from the ground, and Victoria's father had deemed to be still alive, smile brought on by hope for the vineyard appeared on everyone's faces.

In the film, Victoria's family ran a vineyard.
When the vines became frosted, they could not stand the coldness and would die. To save these vines, the workers would light fires on torches, and use fans to blow the hot air toward the vines and fruits to defrost the plants.

The scene that made the greatest impression was when the two main characters were stepping on a tub of grapes with bare feet, while the entire vineyard crew danced and sang around them. Everyone was steeped in the happy and relaxed atmosphere, it was very enviable.

Because Victoria's father was the owner of a vineyard, there were many scenes with the wine-making process in the film. We learnt that September/October was when grapes are harvested, and need to be harvested promptly!
To understand the growing environment of the grapes.

The film had described that when there was a lot of snow, the harvested production would decrease. They prevented that by warming the grapes with large fire torches.

In the film, the harvesting of grapes was achieved manually. The juicing of the grapes was also done manually by stepping on them. After being fermented twice, the juice is then stored in oak barrels, and later bottled.

The vineyard in the film was located in Napa Valley. The most recognized wine varieties there are Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The weather in Napa Valley is similar to that of the Mediterranean, with the special characteristic of occurrences of mist during summer.

The film also mentioned making brandy using the grape residue, or pomace. In the process of making wine, pomace is produced, which can be distilled to obtain liquor that is pomace brandy.

The method of making pomace brandy, put simply, uses the grape residues, the pomace, from the wine-making process as the main ingredient, which are distilled and processed to obtain liquor. It is a byproduct of wine-making.
