英文文法 used to vs. be used to

如果說

used to V 指的是過去習慣 (used 是動詞)

be used to Ving 指的是現在習慣 (used 是形容詞)

Jane is American. She went to Britain and found driving on the left difficult.

a) At first she wasn't used to driving on the left.

b) But soon she got uesd to driving on the left.

c) Now she has no problems. She is used to driving on the left.

那為什麼不能用 at first she didn't used to drive on the left.

be used to 也可以用於過去式或是完成式嗎

Update:

to 蝴蝶結

a) b) c) 皆是答案

簡單地說 used to + V=was(were) + Ving in the past but not now,是過去曾經發生過的事, be used to + Ving=be accustomed to + Ving,或be familiar with + Ving.

    be used to 一樣可以用過去式和完成式.

I used to live here. = I was living here but not now.

I am used to living in a city. = I am accustomed to live in a city.

I used to be active in the school board. = I was active in the school board but not now.

I was used to the operation of the school board. = I was familiar with the operation of the school board.

I used to have a pair of boots. = I had a pair of boots but not now.

I am getting used to wearing boots. = I am getting accustomed to wearing boots.

I have gotten used to wearing boots. = I have been accustomed to wearing boots.

    (a) At first she wasn't used to driving on the left.

    (b) But soon she got uesd to driving on the left.

    (c) Now she has no problems. She is used to driving on the left.

    didn't used to的用法不對.

I am accustomed to living in a city.

    Good explanation from bdref43.

All three statements (from a to c) were stating that driving is/was no longer strange to Jane and that she is/was accustomed to driving.

Used to + verb is employed to talk about a situation or events as they were quite a long time ago. Whatever is described is no longer the case.

He used to live in Taipei = He lived in Taipei in the past but he does not live there any more.

就像be used to --> am used to / was used to

Jane is American. She went to Britain and found driving on the left difficult.

    a) At first she wasn't used to driving on the left.

    b) But soon she got uesd to driving on the left.

    c) Now she has no problems. She is used to driving on the left

    Jane

    (a)我解釋過了 不可以用 didn't use to~~(我也沒有看過didn't use to的用法耶)

    got used to

    (c) 因為有 Now

    所以is used to 沒有問題

    be used to 能有過去和完成

I was used to singinig in my room.

I have been used to singing in my room.

I am not used to singing in my room

He doesn't get used to singing in my room.
