I'm not sure what you're doing with the 18 inches but the rest is fairly straight forward.

Given the velocity in feet per second and wanting to know its equivalent in miles per hour, we have two measurements to convert: Seconds to hours and feet to miles. Let's do time first.

A velocity of 100 feet/second is 100*60 feet per minute and 60 times that for feet per hour. Doing that arithmetic, I get

360,000 feet per hour.

Now, all that left is feet to miles. We know that there are 5,280 feet in a mile so our answer is 360,000/5,280

which come to 68.18182 miles per hour.

Clear? Good luck!
