Although six people had expected for dinner, ten showed up.

Although six people had expected for dinner, ten showed up.

Although (only) six people had BEEN expected for dinner, ten showed up."

"Six people expected to go out for dinner."

"Although (only) six people were expected for dinner, ten showed up."

"Although we expected (only) six people to come for dinner, ten showed up."

Although six people had expected for dinner, ten showed up.

Although six people were expected for dinner, ten showed up.
