Why is the Federal Trade Commission important?
Any info would be a great help. Thank you!

This question really doesn't belong among the taxation questions.
The FTC's major duties are regulation of anti-competitive practices and consumer protection. When two companies want to merge (like XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio), the FTC has to make sure that the merger won't stifle competition. And the FTC houses the Consumer Productions Safety Commisison.

As far as taxes are concerned, it really isn't.
