Surgery: drug interactions of morphine (opiates) and marijuana?

A family member is undergoing numerous reconstructive facial surgeries from a gunshot wound. He smokes marijuana through his trache tube and there is concern that this could decrease the effectiveness of morphine and painkillers that are prescribed when he is in recovery. Please refer me to websites or publications if any are known as well as any personal knowledge or experience.

It wont affect the pain killers but there have been studies linking pot smoking to a longer clotting time.

This means he would bleed more, and have more trouble getting the bleeding to stop.

Srry cant find the article to link but you prob could find it
