We have 5 fine digital keyboards here, as well an a wonderful Steinway grand piano. We own a chamber music business north of NYC, and have gone thru many keyboards, looking for certain features. I previously owned several Roland keyboards, but several months ago, made another decision. Since we need to MOVE these for gigs - are are not getting any younger - we found an 88-note keyboard with 5 decent piano sound (kinda . . . ) and adjustable action (not true weighted, but velocity-curve adjustable) that weights SEVENTEEN POUNDS. Are those piano sounds as good as my Roland (never mind my Steinway)? Of course not. Is the feel like my Steinway? Nope. But it is decent for short-run-out gigs - and it cost $400. M-Audio 88sx.
A weighted keyboard with 88 notes is going to be heavy - at least 40 pounds. If you are going to LEAVE IT in your house, then fine! But if you intend to move it often, go for either - unless you are very young and strong. You will also need amps - or run it thru your home stereo system. Easy to run USB into your computer. Good luck with your search!
